LATEST NEWS  |  5 ways to remove hair

Removing excessive hair from your own body can be a painful process, so having a professional treatment to remove body hair should be painless. There are plenty of body hair removal methods to choose from. Body hair removal can benefit your arms, back, legs, eyebrows, bikini area, face or anywhere else that needs it, and boost your confidence. There are many different do-it-yourself treatments like wax strips, depilatory creams, shaving, electrolysis or plucking, but these are only a temporary solution as it’s only the hair itself that’s removed, so it soon grows back.

There are several medical conditions that can affect the growth rate of your body hair too. Unless you’re naturally hirsute, changes to your hormones or another chemical imbalance, can suddenly cause hair to grow more thickly, or start to sprout in areas of your body where you never had it before. If this is the case, it’s a good idea to make an appointment with your doctor first to rule out any underlying condition that’s best treated with medicines.

The main DIY methods for body hair removal are:

Shaving – This is probably the most commonly used way to remove unwanted hair. The pros are that it’s easy and relatively painless to do, but it’s also the least long-lasting.

Waxing – Whether you use wax strips yourself, or visit a beautician to have hot liquid wax applied by an experienced technician, waxing is a good way to remove hair. Unfortunately it can be painful when the strips are removed because the wax literally rips the hair out of your follicles. It does grow back in a couple of weeks, but the more often you have a waxing treatment the thinner and less visible your hair becomes.

Depilatory cream – Using hair removing cream is one of the easiest, if a bit messy, ways to remove your unwanted hair. The creams can be bought in any local chemist and so long as you read the instructions carefully the process should be very straightforward.

Electrolysis – Passing a mild electric current into the hair follicles can be used to remove hair permanently. However, the method must be repeated a few weeks later as some hairs may be missed the first time.

Laser hair removal - If you’d rather find a permanent solution to your unwanted body hair consider laser hair removal. It can be more expensive, but the results will last forever.
